Simple Printmaking

Simple Printing Techniques

Printmaking is immensely satisfying and great fun to do. This will be an introduction to basic printing techniques that don’t require a press.

We will cut our own rubber stamps from easily available materials and use these to create repeat motifs which–printed onto painted papers-–are particularly suitable for the endpapers and cover papers used in bookbinding (and the stamps will be re-usable at home).

We will also experiment with monoprinting–single prints made directly from the inked plate–and simple relief prints. For those who haven’t done so before, there will the option to learn to make a soft cover pamphlet stitch book.

No experience is necessary. Please note that all the inks used are solvent free.
